I moved into my first house at the beginning of the month. One thing that I wanted while looking at houses was a room that I could use for a music room. Somewhere that I could leave my amps set up and my guitars out, practice the violin and teach music lessons.

I need to do some drywall repair and soundproofing, but here it is for now.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice !

After my daughters moved out I took over their room pronto ! It is nice to just walk in there, click the amp on and play. The only other thing in there now is a crib for the grand kids so I also have an audience sometimes................and they always clap !!

I remember my basement studio kind of looked like that 20 years ago when my wife and I bought our house. I only had 3 or 4 guitars and the 2 basses back then and only 3 amps I think (two of which were small practice amps). When we first bought the house, that was one of the main reasons I wanted a basement was so that we could set up our own "studio"...I'll have to try and get some pics of how it looks now 20 years later as it's becoming just a bit frightening, LOL!

Anyways, congrats on the house...and good luck with the sound proofing!

Peace,
Jim

Nice. What are you going to use for sound proofing?

Thanks for the replies.

I have no idea what I am going to use for soundproofing. I still need to do some research...

And phreddybee, I really love that Garnet amp. It has the best natural overdrive of any amp that I've played. They're not so hard to find here in Winnipeg, they were made here. This one's from the mid-70's.

I love the room and know you just moved in but I think it needs a bit more rock or blues type vibe. If I was a kid coming for a lesson I would feel this teacher is stern.lol

LoL

Thanks for the comments. What would you suggest to give my room a less sterile feel?

That's going to be a great space when you get everything up and running. There isn't enough room in my music room to change your mind let alone a set of strings.BTW I love the old Garnet and Bandmaster and they're in such great shape for that vintage, did you own them from new?

I wasn't born when they were new...

A friend gave me the Garnet. He was the original owner.

The Bandmaster Reverb is a '69. It's seen a few owners, but I would guess very little stage use. I think it was used in a church for awhile.

I envy you. My basement was supposed to be my room but now my man cave is my man area. I would have to be very careful if I turned around with my guitar on so that I wouldn't clear off my computer desk or gore my flat screen with the headstock. Between my wife and my two girls I guess I should just be happy that my room isn't pink...yet.
