An epiphone SG that had a broken tuner for $50. The guy at the guitar store gave me an extra one they had for free and after I did a setup, I traded it for a modded MIM tele with a SD Pearly Gates HB in the neck position and a texas special bridge. It cooks!

The SG was awesome deal as well but I already had an Epiphone LP and have always more of a Fender/Single coil guy.

I scooped up an old Ampeg Jet (small tube amp) for $45 at a yard sale many years ago.

I bought a Blues jr and a used guitar for $500 , I know that does not sound that good but I traded the guitar ( I knew I was going to do this when I bought it. ) plus $100 for a brand new 2008 Fender MIM sss Standard strat. So for $600 I end up with a brand new strat and a Blues jr.For a first guitar and amp combo I am pretty happy.

I've never really purchased an item considered a "steal", but I can go into my buddy's shop, grab what I want at cost and make my own payment schedule and payment amount. :D
Can't beat that.

Nice, reminds me, someone at my work gave me a 1966 silvertone bobkat for free, that I cleaned up and sold on Ebay for about $175. :D

I added up all the guitars, amps, and guitar related stuff I bought, sold, and traded on ebay and craigslist over the last 8 months. And I'm actually only down about $450. But This is what I have for that $450 dollars

A 1991 Fender Strat Plus Deluxe
A 1993 Fender Strat Plus ( but the neck isn't original, but they are both from the same year, a couple of months apart)
A 2005 American Standard (Same, not original neck, but same year)
The MIM Strat I painted
a couple of small practice amps
and a couple of hard shell cases

Not bad for $450.

I was pretty content with the MIA 95 Fender Blues DeVille I got for 360 recently. I'm sure someones gotten better for less, but with the price of tube amps around here lately, it was a pretty good deal.

I bought the 65 Strat in 74 but it was still a great price even at that time.

Best overall deal ever was a 92 SG Standard for $450 ... all it needed was a good clean up, setup and spray the pots. I got that from a person who, for personal reasons, had decided never to play electric guitar again. He listed it on Craigslist at something like 1 AM and for reasons I can only put down to fate, I was up then and happened to check Craigslist.

My best Fender deal was a Lake Placid blue 69 Thinline RI for $480 on EBay. The guy was selling a pink one also, with that auction ending about an hour before the Lake Placid. All the attention was on the pink one, which ended up going for something like $830. Must be everyone forgot about the blue, because I was the final bidder almost a day before the end.
