So I am purchasing my first strat in a few days. Should I go with the Standard Strat Sunburst with Maple fretboard or with the HSS Standard Strat same color and fretboard. Also Does anyone have input on G&L I was looking at a G&L too. Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

I have 4 Strats, all single coil models,I'm a traditionalist as far as Strats go and I find that SSS Strats just sound more like a Strat should. The only way I would ever consider an HSS Strat is if it had a coil tap to turn the humbucker to a single coil as in the 2nd pickup position I really love the sound that only a single coil can get.

I have a HSS Strat but I agree with Guitslinger that the SSS is obviously the true Strat sound. You personally have to like the sound of your guitar so that's the only advice I can give. If it gives you the sound that you like then get it. I do wish I could coil tap my HSS for the single coil sound at times but I love my baby just teh way she is.

HSS. My 2009 highway one has SSS and the only thing I miss on that guitar is a Humbucker, but I'm keeping the SC because that's the reason I bought the guitar in the first place.
