A buddy of mine had one in his shop a few years back for $450 I think. I know it had a set neck (possibly neck through), burst finish and a hardtail bridge. I don't remember much more than that. I think back and wish I'd grabbed it.
I'm sure someone here has better info. If you're speaking of a Joe Satriani guitar, I don't believe I'd trade for it.

They are pretty cool guitars, but not highly sought after. The pups are true Duncans, but people I know are not that crazy about them. 24-fret flat fretboard ... a real shredder. Nice finish and headstock, too. You can find them for $400 all day long. So if you think your guitar is worth more than that, then don't trade.

I own a JS-100 and I wouldn't trade mine (It has a lot of sentimental value being my first real guitar). Realistically though they are very similar guitars (in style and price), with the Ibanez being just a shade more expensive.

That being said you need to decide which you would rather own. Don't think about how much they cost or what potential value they may have in the future, but instead think about which one appeals most to you. Play them both and compare. Which one sounds the best to your ears? Which one feels the best in your hands? Which one fits your style best (looks and sound)?

Once you answer those questions then I think you'll have your answer. Good luck with your decision. I think you'll do well either way.

Just my opinion, but I hope it helped.
Bill

I own a 2005 Fender Showmaster Special edition QMT set neck with HH Seymour Duncan pickups. It is a very nice guitar. The pickup set is hooked up to a 5 way switch for some very interesting sounds(series, parallel, split). The guitar is great for live gigs because of the wide range of sounds available. The neck is very nice, 24 med/jumbo frets, flat radius, abalone dot markers. The amber sunburst is soooo nice.
I was not sure about the quality of a Korean Fender, but the fit and finish of my guitar is excellent, and I have been happy with it. It has high end components, excellent workmanship, and a wide variety of sounds available in one guitar.
The question is, how much do you want to get rid of the Ibanez??? Keep it, and buy the Fender. The price should be around $400-500 for a nice example. Contrary to what others have said, they are NOT that easy to find. In 30 years of playing guitar, I have come across one, and liked it so much that I got it. Good luck!!

That's not right. They are all over the place, especially eBay and my local CL. There are at least five for sale on eBay right now. This one below has a buy-it-now of $369. They tempt the crap outta me ...

I did an ebay search, and found a grand total of 2 Showmaster QMT HH models, so to say that you can find them all day long is wrong. If you consider that there are thousands of guitars available on Ebay, to find only 2 is a small amount. Fender Strats are easy to find "all day long". How many set neck Strats are available out there??
Remember, if you don't want one, don't buy it.

You said you found only one in your 30 years of playing. Anybody reading that would think they are very difficult to find if they wanted one. And my point was that they are readily available for anyone who wants one, and they are. They show up on CL, and there is ALWAYS an auction on eBay for at least one. Last week there were five auctions. Today, you identified two. I think they are a kick-butt platform and extremely cool guitar. That being said, the "mass populace" doesn't. Why? Because it does not have the Strat name, and it is MIK. However, this perception results in the guitars being way undervalued IMO. They are a lot of guitar for the money ... and have given me personally my share of GAS pains. Now, relax...
