I am thinking about changing my string gauge to Ernie Ball Heavy top Skinny Bottoms. The gauge difference if from the factory gauge is .42 to .54. Are these to heavy a gauge for my guitar?? Will it cause damage to my guitar? Thoughts anyone??

Thanks

I have used EB's Top Heavy strings a number of times. One thing that I liked was the growling low sustain while playing blues. One thing I did not like was the top string were more booming while the high end had less volume. I had to lower the pickups on the low side to compensate. When it was all said and done, i returned to the good old .10s on most of my guitars except a few Teles and 1 or 2 Strats which I use .09s....
