The Black one is a 94 and the Srv is a 92

I have a problem with the grounding on trem claw. I can't seem to get it to ground right and i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions. It's on my 94 mim strat that my girlfriend bought me and i just drop a new 50's reissue pickup/pot/switch in it, and the pickups sound great aside from the grounding issue. Heres a couple pics of it just for fun, it kinda resembles a roadworn strat.

Whats up, are you having a hard time getting the solder to take to the claw?

Thats my biggest bane with tremclaws. I rub a nailfile over where I'm going to solder onto it, just to give the solder something to key into. You have to really get that tremclaw hot with the soldering iron before putting any solder to it. Its a big heatsink.

If you've already got lots of solder on there, it could be a cold solder join. Where new solder sits ontop of old solder and doesnt create a electricaly good connection. Clean the claw off and do as stated above. If you have a raised notch in the claw, use it. Solder onto that, or poke the bare wire inbetween the notch and tremclaw face, then solder that.

Alternatively you can strip off half inch of wire and tie it to a tremspring. Not the best solution but a absolute godsend if you notice the problem ten minutes before you go onstage

Thanks for the help, yeah its not sticking at all i guess its from all the solder over the past 16 years lol. I'll try sanding it down and takin a solder torch to heat it up so maybe it'll stick the pickups are awesome but i just can't let the sound be ruined by the horrible hum lol

clean all the old solder off mate. Give the claw a bit of a rub up with some file or sandpaper and you should be good to go.

+1

Or you could use a clip on terminal and place it between the screwhead and the claw

At 3min 40sec the guy in the clip shows how this is done

Hope this helps
