:? I just purchased the olympic white American Standard. Beautiful guitar. I threaded the trem bar on and found it on an angle and not parelell with the bridge which seemed wierd. Does anybody know if this is normal?
The shop where i purchased this said that all of the two point post systems are like this. Dosent seem right but if its designed that way im okay with it. Just wans to make sure its not flawed.

Thanks

Totally Normal. :D

I've got a SSB 2009 american standard strat. Works the same way.

just checked a couple of mine and found the same thing, looks like the sustain block is cut on a slight angle and then attached to the bridge, so the wang bar will not come straight out of the hole in the bridge unless the whole unit is assembled and then drilled straight through to make two holes and then tapped for the threads.

One more question about the American Standard trem system. It wont fit in the case unless i take the bar off. I dont use the bar but the manual says that i will need to put a piece of tape over the hole to prevent loosing the spring. This spring did fall out when i removed the arm and i dont want to keep a piece of tape on the guitar. Do i need this spring? Fender should make a nice plug for this hole and not suggest a piece of tape. Your thoughts?

Thanks for your imput. I have removed the spring and tucked away in a safe place. I just cant stick a piece a tape on this guitar.

I use a small piece of transparent tape. Barely noticable.

I have a 2003 American Series Strat with a similar problem. If I screw in the trem bar it looks crooked, almost like the hole in the block for it was drilled at an angle. It's almost unusable, but luckily I don't use it at all.

How about a pic of your new guitar and trem bar?

You need to use you own photo storage service. Try www.photobucket.com or yahoo and google have a service. They all have free subscription levels.
