Hi guys,

Just curious, are the Texas Special pick ups that are currently offered on the new American Special Stratocaster the exact same pick ups that are fitted to the Texas Special equipped Custom Shop guitars?

Same PU's. Fender realized how popular they are so its becoming the new "standard" pickup...

Texas Specials are Texas Specials. I would hope Fender would not false advertise that a guitar had Texas Specials and really have something else installed.

Its a hard to tell they are Texas Specials because there are no special markings. I asked Fender about the custom shop logo and they said they are only on after market TS. Other then output readings with a multimeter, you'd think it they were mexi strat pickups....

As I alluded, the specifications of the guitar are posted here on their official website.

Click on the Spec. Tab. and here is what comes up. Please note the bolded sections. I do not think Fender would knowingly deceive us. I believe they are Texas Specials. They definately sound better than the stock pickups that are in the Mexican Standards. After playing an American Special and American Standard in the shop, I will go as far to say they sound better than the pickups on the American Standards.

They are still made in the custom shop. The only ones that have the cs logo are the aftermarket ones.

I think that some of you may have misunderstood what I was actually asking.

I wasn't in any way trying to suggest that Fender were maybe trying to mislead us.

What I actually was wondering was that maybe the Texas specials used on Custom Shop guitars are actually wound in the Custom shop and the Texas Specials fitted to factory built guitars are wound in the factory (albeit both to the exact same spec and hence, both 'Texas Specials').

That was all I was considering?

If indeed the American Special does use pickups wound by the specialists in the Custom Shop, then this really does make for a good value, low end American guitar IMO!

To my knowledge fender doesnt use texas specials on any of the custom shop models. They do however use them on some of the artist series guitars which are mass produced.Reread my post before I beieve I answered your question in the previous post.
