Does anybody know if there is any difference at all between the MIM standard and the MIM classic series models of the same color?

I know that they tint the necks, but I'm wondering if they use tinted clear coat or something to make the classic series look slightly aged. I've not seen any two of the same color to make a side-by-side comparison.

Any thoughts?

I had a classic series 60s in Lake Placid blue and the body looked like a standard to me. I never had them side by side though and I know the 60s had a mint green pickguard.

I think the bodies are the same if they are the same color and it's only the necks, tuners, pickups, and accessories that set them apart.

Thanks! I figured they probably use the same body with different hardwar/pickups etc, but figured I'd ask.

Too bad, I think that would be a pretty easy thing to add a tinted clear coat. Would probably add some cost though.

Just curious, why did you get rid of yours?

It is just my opinion though, and I'm not quite sure if it is fact...

I actually loved that guitar. I got it used for $300 which was a steal!! It was a 2003 / 2004 60s series. I had 3 Strats at the time and I let the 60s series go to fund another project (my Tele). There was a slight issue with the fit of the neck plate, it did not sit exactly flush with the body of the guitar, but otherwise it was perfect.

I think I'll get one again some day, I have a bit of regret letting it go... There is something about that Lake Placid blue. I'm glad they're still making them.
