Relearning is fun. Do yourself a favor and also take a few lessons. They work wonders for us older people. Have fun. I take a lesson every chance I get. It helps

About 16 years ago I had to pawn my circa 1990 American Standard in order to pay the bills. It hurt. I certainly wasn't very good on it, but I really enjoyed just holding it and noodling around.
Well, after many years of hard work I'm finally at the point I can justify the expense. About 3 weeks ago I picked up a brand new American Special (2 tone brown sunburst), found my old books, bought a couple new books, and I'm learning again. This time I'm taking my time and learning how to read the little black dots, too.
I'm looking forward to many years enjoyment and frightening the cats.

Welcome to the Forum and to the world of guitars. Congrats on the new guitar. Great choice, I love the American Special guitars and hope to own one in the near future myself.

I've played off and on since 1987, never really got too good, but now I'm getting back into it. What's helped me a lot is youtube and Guitar Pro computer software. With guitar Pro you can download tab off of the internet of a ton of songs, and in guitar pro it'll play the tab, and you can slow it down or play sections or change the key, all kinds of stuff like that.
