I have a 2000 American Series Strat that does not have the no-load pot. I bought it used but everything definitely looks stock, I replaced the pups and all the solder joints looked original. It has normal 250k pots, not TBX controls either.

Does that make sense? I just read that all Am Series that year should have the Delta Tone circuit? It is left handed if that has anything to do with it.

Thanks for the help!

Tim.

The American Series and the current US Standard models came stock with the Delta Tone pickup system. The Delta Tone has been introduced in 1997.

The first-generation US Standards made between 1986 and 1997 used the TBX circuit. The TBX was also OEM standard on the Plus series guitars.

I had a 2000 American Series Strat. It had the Delta-Tone No-Load tone pot, but turning it from 9 to 10 and back again did not give a noticeable difference in tone, or even feel as though "something" happened. It must have been a bad pot, because I've tried another No-Load tone pot and could feel an indent in the pot's motion, almost like a click.

Thanks for the replies.

I wonder if some Am Series from 2000 did not come with it then. Mine definitely does not have a detent anywhere on any of the pots. There is nothing else about this Strat that is suspicious.

hmmm....

I emailed Fender consumer relations and got a respone the same day (big props to Fender on thatt!!!)

Regarding th Delta Tone system:
"That is true for right handed models, but not for lefty models. Sadly left handed models only have the straight volume and tone set up."

So there's the answer if other lefty's were wondering the same...

It is incredible how lefty's are still being treated like witches. There is no reason the Delta Tone should have been left out of our guitars. Didn't Hendrix teach luthier's anything about equality?

I just got a 1998 American Series Telecaster & I couldn't figure out why in the world it didn't have the Delta Tone!

Thanks for the post!
