I have been learning to play (self-taught) for the last 3 years. About 3 months ago I started playing with other guys in a garage jam get together (litteraly in a garage).

Tomorrow night, we are going to take our garage jam and play at a local pizza joint. Still a jam session, but this will be the first time I play in front of the public so to speak! I just hope I don't doink a bunch of chords and notes, but really don't care if I do!

Thanks! I won't get much work done tomorrow :) Right now I have the same feeling I remember the night before my first baseball game way back when I was 8 or 9.

that is too cool.

ive played live twice. once in a talent show, got second place last year.
2nd was at king of the blues back in sep/oct didnt place  .
but i held my own.

when your up there, and you get that little nervous feeling, remember that not everyone can play guitar.
plus your self taught, so am i. that is an accomplishment in itself.

dont worry if you fumble a little in a chord or two, most wont take notice.
just relax, and have a great time.

You are deffinetly going in with the right attitude. Playing live is equal to about 10 sessions in your bedroom so just go out to make good music and have fun. And like I tell my son mistakes are free and just play right through any mishap, and odds are no one will even notice. Good luck.

Even the pros make mistakes, playing around it makes them beautiful though. Remember not to play too fast.

I remember my first time on stage, scared, but got through it and loved it.
Have fun,if you do make mistakes ,and you will, don't let the audience know it,heck most people will never notice it...but they will notice if you:
stop in the middle of a song
or don't stop at the same time :)
Have fun and know that most people WISH they could play!

Absolutely. There's nothing like other people liking your playing and wanting to hear you. There's a lot of bad aspects to playing out. Despite 22 years of experiencing em I can't remember or name any of them. The plusses are so good they overshadow the negatives completely.

remember most of all-stay loose and have fun!

my first gig was in 1966- i was 12. they asked some of us who were in the same grade to play for a summer picnic. we had about 2 months to practice. right after that we played for a musician's memorial. our audience consisted of members of the local musicians union- some of the best players around.

we played 3 songs i believe. after we were done, the musicians came up to us and offered advice. they helped us get gigs, and encouraged us. it helped tremendously.

i think you'll find the the music community will be here to support you. let us know how it goes

Just remember the more they drink the better you sound so...

You'll do fine. Have fun.
