G'day all, It's that time again.

I am looking at two darlings, which I will end up buying both in the end, it's just a matter of time and which one comes first.

Classic 50's Strat Fiesta Red Maple Neck or Classic Player 60's Sonic Blue strat.

I am going for the Sonic Blue Strat first due to it's specs that suite the genre's of music I play.

Which one would you go for first?

I love fiesta red guitars, but prefer the rosewood f/board, buy both.

I'd go for the CP 60. I am just not a big fan of v-shaped necks like on the CP 50. I also really like the CP 60's CS69 pickups. Also, I'd be getting one with that 3-color burst without question ...

I was just checking out the CP 60's yesterday. That's the one I would go with.

CP 60's.... Fiesta Red has been imitated by Squire far too often...

CP 60s - I prefer rosewood (not to mention I bought the 3 tone burst a few weeks ago). When I was at the store I played both the 3 tone (duh) and the sonic blue. Caution on the sonic blue regarding the finish. They both sounded great & were really solid, but the sonic blue had these...I don't know how else to describe it...lines in the finish - almost like uneven/random lines of paint. They ran the length of the body. I noticed them when holding the guitar at an angle against the light (maybe I noticed them while looking at the neck). The salesman noticed as well. Maybe it was just a random thing, but take a good look before buying. They sure do sound & feel good, tho.

I'd go with the Classic Player- the neck radius is outstanding and makes note bends that much cleaner since it's a 12" radius as opposed to 7.25"(if i remember right) and the Custom Shop 69 pickups absolutely sing. You may want to replace the bridge pickup with something like a Seymour Duncan SSL 5 at some point, but it's not exactly a must. The 2 post bridge I find is easier to deal with in terms of setup as opposed to the vintage style. I have a Deluxe Player's Strat and as far as a comfortable guitar to play you won't find one much better than that or one of the Classic Player's. Cheers!

I'm partial to the 56 NOS reissue 2 tone sunburst.
