I just purchased what is supposed to be a 60th Anniversary Sunburst American Strat from Guitar Centers. However, as I'm researching online there seem to be some inconsistencies. It has the 60th Ann. small round button on the back of the headstock - but no diamond on the front - and the neck plate says Corona, California not 60th Ann.

Are there different configurations for the Americans?

Thanks in advance,
Bob

There are two 60th strats...

One is White and made in Mex the other is 3 tone made in USA. The USA one has delta tone pickups, the 60th button on the back of neck and a dimond on the front. I'm not sure if the white/Mex verion has any of those.

Thanks Chris,
I have the three-tone Sunburst made in USA - but it does not have the diamond on front or the Anniversary neckplate. That's why I was wondering if I had some kind of a hybrid or Franken-Strat???

Sounds like a Frank-strat....

By the way, how do you like the "Delta-Tone" pickups?

I love the guitar but hate those pickups... It was nothing a set of Texas Specials could not fix!!

GrooveMongrel,
When you say "same here" do you mean your guitar has the same features as the one I described - or are you agreeing with the Texas Specials???

I have the same features as you describe. I have an American Deluxe Tobacco Sunburst with the Corona plate on the back and no diamond on the front of the headstock. WTF?

Hey groovemongrel, while the pics you have posted and the guitar you describe sound like a beaut....

I'm afraid that is not a 60 ana strat... by the way the American version is 3 tone with aged pcikguard and parts, with a rosewood neck. Not 2 tone tabaco and maple neck...

But the pic is are great!!!

Thanks groovemongrel - that's what I was hoping for. I even called Guitar Center a little while ago and talked to a manager to ask WTF? He assured me that there was no way these were modified...so I guess they did actually make slightly similar versions.

If I were you.... I would contact Fender instead... Nothing on the internet suggests that there were any more that the two versions of this guitar.

Good luck,
Chris

Thanks bro. But my guitar has a 60th ann. emblem on the back of the neck. BTW that black/aged pickguard was just installed a few weeks ago and not what it came with.

Thanks Chris,
I agree with you about the info available online. Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad idea to contact Fender. I was hoping they monitor these forums for questions such as this., but I guess direct contact would definitively lay this to rest. I'll have to wait till I get home a grab the serial - but I'll post when I get the answer for anyone else who might be interested!

I wonder what the deal is with our guitars.

Dude, maybe ours are just '06 American Deluxe's, not Anniversary models.
