Just came back from a guitar shop, where i asked if they install a single coil-sized humbucker (seymour duncan hot rails) into a strat.

they told me they do, but that i also have to change the guitar's Potentiometer.
what's that about?? :?:

Different pickups have different resistance, and the current one in your strat is for your single coil pickup.

but if i change the potentiometer for the sake of one pickup, wont it affect the other 2? (it's an s-s-s set)

Nope. The tone knobs aren't master knobs, so no. One tone knob is for the bridge pup and the other one's for the middle one.....you'll be changing the bridge one.

Strats come standard with 250k tone pots. if you are getting a humbucker installed you might want to replace it with a 500k pot to take advantage of the full frequency range of your pickup.

Doing that modification to your guitar is not difficult if your current setup doesn't have any push pull knobs. You just need practice doing a clean smooth solder and a wiring diagram of your current set up and one of the new setup.
