Yeah I have small hands too, just got my Jim Root Strat, seems fine to me, I'd say slightly bigger than ESP neck. A couple of things I just discovered: it has the 18 volts upgrade built-in (I thought it was 9v when I ordered it like other emg guitars), but has 18v marked on back of the guitar--wow; has side dots (since there are no fret dots), and this baby is made in USA -- says it all over the guitar, unlike other posting which says MIM. Case is real nice too. Sound is very big and strong. What an awesome axe, beats any of the other dozen guitars I've ever had. Fretboard is smooth, and frets are finished way better than most. Really a smooth and light guitar --way lighter than Les Paul. Thru the body strings, strap and strap locks, locking tuners, this thing is the top. Yeah, its got only one volume and not tone control -- great, I never use em.
Only minus was the low E string was buzzing, and I tightened and loosened it until it broke, and had to put on a new one -- I don't hear the buzzing now but will keep an eye on it. Super great guitar it has it all. Git you one today.

I dont own his strat, but the tele I do. I am quite amazed at everyones negative comments on here, I have a Jim root tele and its probably as good as My HH MIA strat. I have had no problems with it at all. The paint job does wear after time but that is the idea of it (as mentioned in interviews with jim).
I would recommend a tele and I have no doubt the strats are equally as good. My JR tele is one of my favourite guitars and I use it alot! The EMG 81 and 60 are great for rock and clean tones and brilliant for solos....
Maybe theres to many old and traditional guys on here just playing jazz and the blues...
