First off welcome to the forum….

The idea of the Jim Root Strat is cool.. humbucker equipped ready to rock…I just hope there better quality than the Jim Root Tele… looked a couple last year and I gotta’ say they had sub standard fit and finish on a guitar carrying that price..I was very disappointed in Fender.. maybe that’s how Jim wanted it but I gotta’ say that I’m not shelling out about a grand for a MIM with flat, rough paint job, burrs on my frets and loose hardware….No!! not this guy!!!! I think if you want this kind of configuration I would look at the Dave Murry strat …..Maybe you may like the Root Guitars but not my cup of tea for low quality and high price tag.

As far as small hands go I know plenty of small kids at the local instructor place that play strat just fine ( ….just depends on how it feels to you. A Gibson may feel better to you than a fender for smaller hands..

good luck and happy shopping :D

Cheers
Bill

Yeah the EMG’s are the heat although I’m not in love with the emg 60 in the neck

This is a cool ax but her is my list of pro’s and cons

PRO
All black hardware = very cool
EMG pickups
Jumbo frets
Large headstock
Option of Ebony finger board
Comes with case unlike most MIM fenders

CON’s
Lack of tone controls
Lack of fret markers
Flat finish
18 hundred bucks for a made in Mexico mid level guitar, ahhhhhhh

As far as the neck it’s a standard modern C shaped neck just like on the other strats (but with out fret markers)

Again they want way too much $$ for this thing.. it will be interesting to see how many fender sells…

Cheers
Bill

what if I hold if for you :D

If you can't get you mitts on one to try it out, just play a guitar with a similar radius neck and see how if feels.

Don't take this the wrong way, but are you done growing? If not, then you will grow into it. If not, you can always get a new neck fitted.

Hes a guitarist in slipknot (I don't like them at all just the guitar setup). Oh also what measurements should I be paying attention to on the neck?

Haha! I'm with you 100%. I hate Slipknot but I love Fender Strats and EMG 81/60 combo! I wanna get this guitar and write "Slipknot Sux" on it so there's no confusion.

You want to get a thin/narrow neck like what is on jaguars but probably want to keep the same scale as the strat (25.5 inches). I would really recommend calling Warmoth about the neck. Great stuff and you will not be disappointed. Tell them you want Jaguar radius and typical strat scale length.

What do you play now that works for you?

I have a Taylor solid body classic that I'm trying to get rid of, because I cant play it the necks just not comfortable for me, I fell as if I'm always reaching! I also have an ESP Eclipse II that I really like the neck on! I have always wanted a strat and I saw that they have one with EMG's now and got very interested!
