Welcome to the Forum.

In my personal opinion that is not the original configuration of that guitar.

My personal opinion is that the neck and the body could very well be genuine Fender Strat, however I don't think they originally went with each other.

I would check with Fender to see if they made a reverse headstock Strat then.

Now I could be wrong, but ... I thought all of the "reverse headstocks" had the Fender logo set so that it was always right-side up. That is, this looks like someone used a real left-handed neck here, and this is not a reverse headstock. Are the fret markers on the proper side for a reverse headstock? But ... I am not the all-knowing on the subject, and welcome being corrected.

Nope, not real. Parts caster. Fender starting using Wilkenson ball bearing nuts, this does not have one. Fender didn't make hendrix style then either.... They were just recovering from near ruin....

These guys on the Forum really help me a few months ago with a bogus Strat. I bought on eBay. There insight and advice is invaluable. I finally purchased but also took my time and did a lot of research then bought new to avoid any question of authenticity.

It seems unlikely to be in original shape, unless it was special custom shop order to be built this way. The serial number on the headstock will give you the neck year and origin anyway.

It is not an authentic '89 American Standard Stratocaster by any streatch of the imagination (the body might be, though). It does appear to be a parts-o-caster using (perhaps) a genuine, lef-handed Stratocaster neck. The absense of the Wilkerson nut is not an indication of weather or not this is a real Fender Strat because that feature was only utilized on the Strat Plus (and its variations).
