I have an 87 mij squier and I think the specs said it was poplar, but I don't know if they used something else on the non-squiers

Is the neck shape by any chance a "V"?

Well, not an expert here but as I understand it the "362" usually means that it's a '62 reissue neck but as Feather's there suggested, the V could mean it's a "V" shaped neck.

As far as the body woods go, from what I've read, most (not "all" but -most-) MIJ's used basswood. Don't let this fool ya though, those old E-series are -great- instruments and the basswood sounds really sweet on them. As I've said many times now, the folks at the FujiGen plant really got it right with those things...excellent craftsmanship all the way around.

Would love to see some pics!

Peace,
Jim

ST-362 is just a part number. MIJ bodies used in that time frame were Basswood, Basswood with an Alder cap, Alder, and Ash.
