A description of the git in question

A neck date of july 2005 and a body date of august 2005
Maple neck and board appears 1 piece.truss rod adjusts at the headstock. Blond over ash body its relic'd
gold hardware,1 ply white pickguard and back plate. S-1 switching with 3 single coils. the pup covers and knobs are the cream looking I suppose "vintage'y" color. the switch tip and tremolo bar tip are white like the guard and plate.
it does not say USA any where and the only serial number is on the neck plate which is V157***.

My question is did fender put S-1 switching on reissues?
It looks pretty much right except the S-1 throws me.

I don't know much about the Vintage Reissues but my buddy has one (new) at his store (62') and I'm buying it next month. It's been hanging there for a few years. The guitar is new in appearance. No relicing period. No aged parts, nothing. It has no American markings either and the serial number starts with "V" and is on the neck plate. It has the 3-way switch installed along with the ashtray but comes with the 5-way, a strap and a case.

It plays and sounds so good. I only wish it had a maple fret board.

I was surprised for the price that it didn't scream American.

Well, being that it has a maple fretboard, im assuming its "supposed" to be a AVRI '57. The truss rod adjustment should be at the heel of the neck, not the headstock. There was never S-1 switching insatalled on the Reissues, they never had S-1 switching back in the day. On the '57 the pup covers, tips, and knobs should all be the same color, aged white (cream). I dont now about this guitar seems fishy, unless the current owner did a bunch of modding.

You might be able to check with Fender, but it appears you have a really cool reissue of the famous Partscaster....

The VR I plan on buying doesn't have a skunk stripe either.
