Actually I refrain what I said, everyone helped out and I appreciate it, the only person who said something that I would consider being a smart A is you ceri.

"Hi jrx2396: am I missing something here? What's all this about painting it, including the headstock? This is just a standard white Strat that lots of famous players have "painted" their signatures onto. "

That was a smart A answer. I'm not here to argue with anyone, and Im not throwing insults around, and I think your answer was unnecessary. My question was answered and this thread has done its purpose. Thank you.

I will say give Ceri a break. I don't think he was being deliberately sarcastic at all and again I agree with him. Based on what was presented here (a couple of subjective black and white pictures), all we're really talking about is a 2005 Standard Strat that was signed by a bunch of famous people...nothing really special about that guitar at all.

Sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear but I hope it helps.
Jim

Thank you, Jim. Appreciated.

jrx2396: not only was what I said not sarcastic or "smart" (look up the word sarcastic if you are having difficulty with it), every word of it was in fact exactly true. Your thread was asking about what you seemed to think is a special paint job. It isn't.

My tone was friendly and gently humorous, as everyone else here seems to have easily understood. I happen to be someone who has no difficulty at all in apologising when I do something wrong. In this case I haven't.

You on the other hand have. We don't talk down to newbies round here, but when someone first walks into a room full of people they do well not to start rudely sticking their finger in folks' faces. Think about your attitude if you plan on staying around.

Oh, and look up the word "refrain" so that you can use it correctly. And that is not sarcasm either: though it is terse.

Since, as the article states this is a "Arctic White Standard Series Stratocaster" (I wonder if that's an Am Std or an MIM?), I would suspect that if you were to look at this guitar in person the headstock and neck probably wouldn't look any darker than any other 2005 Strat with a rosewood fretboard. Since Fender donated it for this auction I seriously doubt there was anything special about it (again other than the signatures) and being a 2005 it's not like it's old enough to really have yellowed much (if at all)...if anything, I would suspect that the maple on my '96 MIM is probably a bit darker in regards to the headstock and such.

Judging by the fact that it is a 21 fret Strt with a vintage trem and the article from Fender called it a "Standard Strat", my money would be that this guitar is an Arctic White MIM Strat. I would think that if it were a MIA Strat, Fender would have labled it American Standard Strat.

With or without the signatures that is a pretty guitar. Maybe not $2.8M pretty...

If I was the heir to the Qatar throne's dad and sitting king, I might just have to have a talk with little Sheihka about the best use of this kind of money. Had it been me, I would have used $2.79M of the money to purchase a Citation Jet and lessons. Then I would have flown from Qatar to St. Louis and taken in a Cards game (what else do you do with that kind of cash?). On the way back to the airport I stop into GC and use my left over pocket change to pickup a new Arctic Whitre Standard Stratocaster. With next weeks allowance I would have invited Clapton, Jimmy Page, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Brian May, Liam and Noel Gallagher, Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend, Ray Davies, David Gilmour, Tony Iommi, Mark Knopfler, Angus and Malcolm Young, Paul McCartney and Sting out to my place in Qatar, had them autograph the guitar and play a 6 month long private concert and provide me with private guitar lessons. But that is just me. I guess I am just way to frugal. 8)

So the OP has never seen a maple necked rosewood fingerboarded strat before but wants to paint one? I'd like to be a fly on the wall for that little episode. Delusions of grandeur as well as a lack of dictionary access and intercourse skills, is my diagnosis. Luckily the treatment of these symptoms is quite pleasant and doesnt have to be painful, if care is taken during self administration. Get out around other people a bit.

Oh that IS being a smart arse, sarcastic, caustic and a vain attempt at humour too. If you feel its delivered with malicious intent then you really need more social interaction.

Just so were all clear about it. :D
