I just got my hands on a the new American Deluxe Tele in Antique Cherry Burst. Played it yesterday and they expect the Strats to come in today.

New pickups N3s, compound radius neck were the 2 newest additions I could see. The S-1 switch seemed a little sturdier too. I don't think they changed the wiring combo but I didn't run through all the combinations either. The neck is going to take some getting used to if you're a 9 1/2" radius person but it does make the bending easier on the upper frets. Seem to have borrowed the 9 1/2 to 12" radius from the Charvel line The neck is a satin finish not a gloss if that makes a difference to anyone.

Can't really speak to the tone because I'm not a Tele player and I just plugged in to the closest thing at hand a Peavey valvetrain amp. I intend to stop by later today and see if the Strats are in. I'll post a review afterwards.

Charvels, specifically the USA Production series, have a 12"-16" compound radius.

The new Deluxe HSS models didn't have the locking bridge option.

I'm very tired about Fender's decision to discontinue the deluxe locking tremolo in 2007.

Right, but heavy tremolo abusers found the deluxe locking bridge as a perfect companion for the Atomic bridge humbucker, now boosted by the Passing Lane switch.

Fender should offer the new Deluxe HSS with the locking tremolo, as the demand for this now discontinued product grows.
