Hey all,

I just got a line on a guy selling what he says is a 1997 Korean Squier Strat. I'm not yet a strat expert but figured I would look it up online to see if this is the genuine article. I can't find WN as a prefix, even though I did manage to see that somebody else was asking the same question in another forum and got no answer. I don't want to pass it up this guitar because if it's the genuine article the price is VERY good.... Help! Is WN a legitimate prefix?

Dunno. The Korean Strat I have now is the only Korean made Fender I've ever had and it has no letters at all in the serial number. I think it was built in "06 or '07.

Here's a web site. It will be of no use to you this time but save it for future reference.

http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx

I've emailed these guys a couple times now about Korean guitars.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
