Well, maybe it's not too big of a deal, but the other day i noticed there was this sharp debris on my polishing clothe and scratched the $@!& out of my polyester finish ... i ran my finger nail over it and i can feel it

can i buff it out?

wax covers but does it repair?

Thanks in advance

Hi George: first try some automotive swirl remover, from any car parts shop. If that don't work move on to cutting compound, readily available in a cream from the same shop.

And if that don't do it, why then show us some pictures so's we have some idea what we're talking about.

Or just show us pix anyway, why not?

Good luck - C

here's a pic from when i purchased the Strat at Guitar Center

she has a sweet tone :D

as for a pic of the scratch, the camera didn't pick it up...it's very fine and wouldn't be noticed on any given day, it's just that i noticed it -

Then I bet the swirl remover will sort it.

Good luck - C

much appreciated, i'll do that!

she's a sweet MIM guitar and well crafted ... it's funny because i knew exactly what kind of Strat i wanted, what color, what set up, etc. and this was the only one that Guitar Center had - exactly what i was looking for - not to mention the straight neck and shielded pick guard. the best part is that i purchased it for $400 brand spankin' new (president's day sale)

i used to play the humbucking les paul style guitars but this has brought out what i feel is "my tone" ... just want to take good care of my girl cause she makes me more money than a regular job. lol

It always hurts when you scratch a fairly new axe,at least it does me.
I own a black Les Paul Custom, about 2 months after I bought it I was changing strings and dropped a pair of needle nose pliers right on the face of the guitar and knocked a chunk of paint out about the size of my little finger nail. At the time I owned a black Chevy p/u truck, and used the touch up paint on the Gibson.
That was back around 1977...it still looks good....the rest of the finish is worn now.

That's a bummer that your new guitar got scratched up, but my advice would be to just leave it as it is. Any guitar will get many scratches over time (even my black & white guitar has scratches), and as you have said although you can't see it from a distance, you will always be able to see the scratches on your guitar close-up. Guitars are meant to be played and used, so think of this unfortunate accident as "road wear"!

:D
