Hello folks,

Thinking about changing the Hot Alnico´s III pups for the following options:

Option 1:
Neck: Custom Shop 69´
Middle: CS Fat 50´RW
Bridge: CS Texas Special

Option 2:
Neck: Custom Shop 69´
Middle: Custom Shop 69´
Bridge: CS Texas Special

Option 3:
Neck: Custom Shop 69´
Middle: Custom Shop 69´
Bridge: Custom Shop 54'

Option 4:
Neck: Custom Shop 69´
Middle: Custom Shop 69´
Bridge: Custom Shop Fat 50'

Option 5:
Neck: Custom Shop 69´
Middle: Custom Shop 69´
Bridge: Seymour Duncan SSL-5

Besides holding its value overtime by a well made pickup customization, my goal for tone is from Jimi Hendrix to Pink Floyd. Show me your thoughts people. Any suggestions will be welcome.

I like the first option you posted, but I'm not all that hot on the texas specials. If It were me I would try:
neck-62/57

mid-54

bridge-69
I realize that you seem to be leaning on something hotter in the bridge but I think this combo will give you a well rounded sound to achieve the widest gamet of traditional strat tones

I have seen this before. I still like the option 5.

Option 5:
Neck: Custom Shop 69´
Middle: Custom Shop 69´
Bridge: Seymour Duncan SSL-5

I have the same guitar and changed out the p/ups. I kept it simple - couldn't be asked to mix n match.

Went with a Seymour Duncan Alnico 2 Pro matched set. You can buy staggered slugs or flat. Not hot, but warmer than vintage. A real compromise set that covers a huge range of tones. The bridge p/up is arguably not quite hot enough..

When considering Seymour Duncans (and I have to say I love them), be aware that because Fender hold the patent, SD's don't quite line up the pole directly underneath the strings on a Fender Strat. Usually the top E string is the worst affected, the string almost completely misses it. Some say this is a problem, but I just slightly tilt the p/up to compensate any perceived lack of power. Some people don't like the look either - preferring the poles to line up exactly in the middle of the string.

But they're great p/ups - approaching boutique performance (Kinsman, Shed etc) at 'normal' prices..

I'm digging option number 4 the best. I think you'll get all the classic strat tones without the sharpness many CS may give you... A little mellowness to single coils goes a long way...

Thanks for the suggestions people.

What I might be really after is a versatile pickup configuration, that i can nail some Blues, Hendrix and Gilmour. I may play some Santana and GMoore just for fun. The Hot Alnico III I find some great pickups, but I´d like to have some superior quality pups. So I want to change them without loosening all the versatility that it delivers to me.

How confusing is this topic i must say. Today I woke up thinking like this:

Neck: Custom Shop '69
Middle: Custom Shop '69
Bridge: CS Texas Specials

or a trio of Fender Hot Noiseless...

Please experienced musicians share your thoughts...
Im thinking of blues, hendrix, gilmour. But then again will gilmour fit the 69/tex pup config ? I think hot noiseless will dont ya ?

Thanks for the suggestion. I really havent heard of those pups yet.

Im a past 30 yrs old man and Im feeling like a teenager who cant decide witch toy want for christmas.

Today I woke up feeling like Trios of Custom Shop '69 or Lace Holy Grails...

If i could i would buy about 3 more strats so I can have all the pup/configs i desire. But as were in real life i can only choose for one and get hard work for buying it.

Final option with the Duncan man :) I play with a Duckbucker in my bridge atm and its amazing! but i originally had a SSL1 in there originally and it was great :P only reason it came out was so i could have a Single sized HB in there.
