I've got a 2004 MIA 50th Anniversary Strat with noiseless pickups. Can someone suggest a good OD pedal to get, (preferably a Boss cause I have an empty spot in my Boss pedalboard, or one that will fit) to get a nice fat overdrive effect? The tone on the OD channel on my Marshall MG250 just doesn't cut it. I've got a Boss Blues Driver and thats just so so. I thought maybe a Bassman 59 pedal? Ideas?

Hi,

I'm not quite sure if it will fit in your Boss pedalboard, but I really like my Ibanez Tube Screamer TS 808.

It gives a nice smooth overdriven tone which sounds really good with a Strat IMO.

Certainly worth a look!

The TS 808 is a great OD pedal, The Fulltone OCD is very good also.

TS9 - Keeley mod plus. Bit more modern sounding than the TS 808, but can get that classic thick OD sound as well as a bit more urmph. Yes it fits your BOSS pedal board. Yes it can be powered by the magical daisy link chains on the BOSS pedal board.

If all you want is some extra crunch with also adjustable distortion, tone, and amplitude then the very inexpensive and simple BOSS DS-1 may fit your needs. Since everybody probably has one kicking around in a shoebox somewhere, you might borrow one to try it out very easily. I'd lend you mine... but I use it. It seems out of vogue with some folks because it apparently is not expensive enough.

Well I don't own no Boss pedals, but I'v played them at jam-nights because the house-band guitarist always seems to have a whole bunch of Boss pedals.
The Boss OD-3, OS-2 or the DS-2 do there job. I was impressed anyway.

If you want just more of a boost, the Ibanez TS808 or TS9.

I have several Keeley modded pedals and a Keeley original pedal. I like my BOSS SD-1 Stacked Mod better than my TS-9 Mod Plus. It's a little more open sounding, not as compressed and has a looser hairier edge to it while at the same time letting the tone of the guitar sound through. Also it doesn't cut the treble the way the TS-9 does.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Try the MI Audio Blues Deluxe? I think? has a fuzz switch that makes the pedal very versitale.
