Anyone know what pickups are in the American Vintage 70's reissue Strats?
TIA.

I would suspect they put 69 custom pickups.I'm sure a true 1969 pickup was identical to a 1970 or 1971 pickup so the 69 customs would be vintage correct for this model.I don't see why Fender would go to all the trouble of designing a pickup for guitar that is not going to be a huge seller but rather fills a niche market when they already make an appropriate pickup that is successfully used in many models.I'd be curious to confirm this.

Those 69 Custom pickups would be an upgrade on the pickups I have on my 1970 Strat.

That's true, but those Vintage Reissues are far from being vintage correct.

Really? In regards to the 70s reissues, what are some of the major differences between the 70s reissues and the real 70s Strats?I know the real 70s ones had a thick poly undercoat with a nitro topcoat.I'm not certain if the 70s reissue has the same thing. Also the 70s reissue has a 1970-1971 style bridge assembly but a 1972 style bullet and 3 bolt neck...it is not vintage specific to one year but rather the general vibe of that era.Other than that, what would be the other different features?

I believe you answered your own question.

I will admit that the '70s Strat's pickups are realistic, even if they are not Custom Shop '69s.

Usually, the reissues do not have the right patent numbers on the headstock and the body curve radii and contours aren't quite right.
