Fender has revamped the American Deluxe series for 2010.

The redesigned line now features several important enhancements such as new tinted maple necks with compound radiused fretboards, newly-designed N3 noiseless pickups and a reconfigured S1 switching system with the HSS model having Fender's "Passing Lane" push/push button to bypass the no-load circuit on the DH-1 Atomic humbucking bridge pickup.

The American Deluxe Strat HSS also features a Deluxe 2-point tremolo bridge with polished steel saddles and pop-in tremolo arm, an LSR Roller Nut and Schaller staggered sealed locking machine heads. The two N3 Noiseless pickups in the neck and middle positions are wound extra hot for proper balance with the humbucker. (Shown here with a tungsten finish, black plastic parts and a maple fingerboard with black dot position markers)

Unfortunately, this guitar no longer uses the locking bridge option. This feature has been dropped as of 2007.

Since its inception in 1989, the Floyd Rose-designed Deluxe Locking Tremolo Assembly has gained a burst of popularity in the hands of heavy tremolo abusers and it's a shame this product is no longer produced. That's why Fender should bring back the locking bridge option on the Deluxe HSS.

Interesting... I however think I am lucky for having the one I have. No pearl guard, abalone dots, pick-ups will be interesting though.

Off the cuff it looks like an am. std HSS with an LSR.

Amber, 3-Colour Sunburst, Olympic White - these three finishes were already found on the US Deluxes produced after 2006. Montego Black Metallic has now been replaced by Tungsten and Sunset Metallic.
Deluxe "V-Neck" color options include Black and 2-Colour Sunburst.

As for the ash body models, Aged Cherry and Tabacco Sunburst are the same as the previous Deluxes, except for the addition of Midnight Wine Transparent.

The abalone dots are now available only on rosewood fretboards. Maple boards use conventional black dot markers like many Fender guitars.

Fender also dropped the QMT and FMT versions as well.

Its official domestic product page has not been updated yet.

The deluxe locking tremolo is a very useful feature and should be reintroduced. :!:

Was the Deluxe locking trem only featured on LSR equipped deluxes. My 04 deluxe doesnt have it and I cant remember seeing it on an American Deluxe from any other year. I've never physicaly handled a LSR equipped model.

The new Deluxe HSS Strat does have the LSR roller nut. I've checked the pictures at Thomann.

I'm very sick to see this guitar without the locking bridge.

The Passing Lane looks much like an active mid-boost switch, even though the Deluxe HSS electronics are passive. It's supposed to fatten up the humbucker when it's pressed down.

he is not using all caps. he is using bold letters and big font, which IMO is just as annoying. :x

I have the locking trem on one of my Strats. It's a good unit. Works very well. Wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if they brought it back.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I agree, Fender should bring back the locking trem on the Deluxe HSS.

On the other side, I'm using bigger font sizes and bold letters because I found normal lettering enough difficult to read, even though other forum members found this writing style a bit annoying. Please note that not all my posts are written so big.

With today's high resolution monitors and my 50+ yr-old eyes, I can totally relate.

But you don't have to use mega-sized fonts to read tiny text ... just zoom in on the browser window. (Cmd + on the Mac or Control + on a PC) That way, every post will be easier to read and you'll avoid annoying others. Just a thought ... :)

He was just using the bold letters to make a point of the change. To be honest it was a lot easier on my eyes.lol

I ordered the new 2010 american deluxe from sam ash the other day and just received it today. I love this guitar. The new N3 pickups sound so much better. They use alnico 5 magnets and sound much more like a strat than the scn's. They took this guitar off of their website but if you call them you can order it. The new s-1 switching is much better also. Here is how it works with the s/s/s model.

button pushed down

position1 middle and bridge in series and then in parallel with neck

position2 neck and bridge out of phase like a tele middle

position3 neck and middle in series like a humbucker

position4 middle and bridge in a series like a humbucker

position 5 all three pickups
