Hello all...I'm new here and sure hope I'm not stepping out of bounds. I thought maybe this is the ideal place to find some nice folks that could direct me. If you get a lot of questions like this or this is not allowed please forgive me! I read over the rules here and didn't catch anything.

You see, I inherited a Fender Stratocaster that used to belong to Dennis Rose of The Centurians. The place you might have heard them was in the movie Pulp Fiction with Travolta. When he was sitting in the restaurant booth before they entered that dance contest. Well the surfer type guitar music in the back ground is The Centurians.

I have one of their cassette tapes in the tweed guitar case even. Anyway, this guitar I'm told is a 1959 reproduction. From what I can tell it is a sunburst with maple neck. You know, you get on line to learn really what you have or you try to look at ebay but I simply can't shake it out. I mean, there appears to be different manufacturing plants etc. I know the serial number can tell something but what??

This guitar is really clean, no scratches and one teeny tiny dent. I'm thinking of exploring the shark infested waters of ebay to sell it but how on earth can a fellow find out the value of something like this? Anyone know of anything at all which may help me?

Any feedback here would be so helpful as I would like find someone that would enjoy this guitar and its history. I thought for sure a Fender forum would be a good place to ask folks. Thanks much!

Dave :D

The nice people here on the forum will help you get in the ballpark, but at the end of the day it is worth what the market will pay and there is no better way than to post it on ebay. Of course you need to take the usual precautions as you would with any auction.

Good Luck!

Thanks...yes, I am aware it's all about the market and such. No problem with that of course. My problem is knowing where to start with it. I don't really even know exactly what I have other than it was once owned by "somebody" in the music industry. I hate having to deal with e pay but I don't have much choice to reach the widest audience. Thanks!

Well your going to reach the most people on ebay and you also have the known player factor going which can raise the value. In that aspect you are going to have to have some documentation that proves who it belonged to as about 70% of all autographed guitars on ebay are forged. Once you know exactly what you have check the completed listings on ebay to get a good idea what your model is going for.

As others have stated you can't get more for a guitar because it has a certain provenance unless you have substantiating documentation. I know that my Jimmy Vaughn Strat was actually played by him because the store I bought it from is one I've been doing business for 30+ years and they have the word of the Fender rep it came from however I couldn't hope to get one cent more if I sold it as I have no proof especially photographic which is what most people want.

Thanks for asking hope you can help. The serial number is located on the little silver plate that bolts the neck to the body. It is

It is a vintage style guitar made in Corona Ca. You will have to contact Fender to get more information.

Thanks Straycat...

Well this guitar isn't autographed and all I have is a jam session cassette tape that was in the guitar case with it and a note on that written by him...alas no signature there either. You see, my brother helped Mr. Rose in his last dying years of life and ended up getting a number of things. Rose was to the meth clinic once a week then back to bed, a real mess. The guy was huge, could hardly walk. My brother sold me the guitar a few years back and now I would rather have the bucks than it. And if no one believes it was his I guess that is to be expected and I don't much care I suppose. Just want to learn what I have so I can sell a real clean guitar. I don't need it as while I can strum a few cords I have a lil acoustic that does that well enough and I can't remember the last time I even picked that up.

It's from Corona? Did you tell that from the serial number?
