Kong... that is looking SWEET! can't wait for the sand and polish so that body just sparkles.

But seriously dood, 1 pic of the neck? and just the top 8 frets... no no no.

This forum requests... no, demands MULTIPLE PICTURES of the neck! (if you could please that would be extremely helpful :p)

Keep up the great work :)

Dan

LOL - I'll try and get some up later. The pics on page 11 are of the actual neck... front and back...

Is that a screw on the side of the neck in that pic?

Yes.

Ahem:
"To make truss rod set-up and adjustment more convenient, Warmoth "Pro" Construction necks feature the Gotoh side adjustment mechanism. Inserted between the usual truss rod adjustment nut at the heel and the truss rod, this ingenious device uses inclines and wedges to adjust the rod tension. Initial set-up is still accomplished at the traditional butt end but future small adjustments are then conveniently done on the side of the neck."

PS Welcome BoK, hope you enjoy Washington. Ths Cascades were snow topped on July 4th when Mrs.E and I made the trip.

BoK sent me a pic from Rainier. Her Washington trip has begun and she is in volcano heaven. She told me she had the most fun ever when she slid down the snow about 200 feet on her butt on the way back from her hike yesterday. She's offline this week with her travels, but I'm sure she doesn't mind me sharing a pic or two. Today she is off to Mt. St. Helens and she is seriously excited. All this travelling and only 2 weeks til the wedding :) .

Oh yeah, 10 more days of curing for the strat, and hopefully the lacquer won't be too soft. I tried the fingernail test yesterday (day 20) and was able to make an indentation. I wonder how much trouble I'll get in if I do much work on the guitar with 4 days to go before the wedding.

That's even more snow than I remember. Snow caps and 4th of July fireworks all from the same porch.
Please don't rush the guitar, given the crazy weather, 100 degrees and 95% humidity not to far from you, there is not much to be gained by hitting the hurry button.
Cheers,
John.E

Hi Kong!

Will you and Bok be visiting other snowy places together? Honeymoon maybe?

Just remember to dress for the cold

Is it ready yet?

Damn this waiting time - it's beginning to feel like it's our own personal guitar here. We're sharing the pain of waiting..

You should have made 2, then you could have given us the old "and here's one I made earlier.." routine.

Believe me the waiting is killing me too! It might not be quite ready for sanding on day 30. The lacquer still feels slightly soft and it can be indented with a fingernail. There are quite a few small lumps and bumps in the finish which I believe is due to the metallic paint. I hope it polishes up nice and I won't be crushed if it does not come out perfect; it still is a lot better than what it was.

I wish we were together in the snowy place in the picture. That was her field study trip for her masters and I sadly had to stay behind.

Stick to the program Kong!!!! No matter how tempting, if you can indent it , let it sit, and i would suggest let it sit a week after you think it's hard enough, just to be safe. metallics mean more coats, and thus more evaporation, and slower evaporation.

It will be worth it to suffer through the waiting period, but you will regret it if you don't. Err on the side of caution my friend, you did too awesome a job to risk blowing it, by getting ants in your pants at the very end.
