Try handing that to the zit-popper behind the counter at Circle K the next time you fill up your car with gas.

I ordered coffee at a drive through once, and handed the CDO a $2 bill. She handed it back and asked for "real money". :D

The two-dollar bill, while rare, *is* real currency -- legal tender for all debts public and private. I would've told them to keep their lousy coffee and driven off.

A serial number alone doesn't usually tell much about the authenticity, one way or another. Z3 (if it's a real Fender serial) would suggest it was built 2003-2004, but tells nothing about the model etc.

You can email that serial number to consumerrelations@fender.com ; they often can provide the specs to the guitar that was built with the number, so you can compare if they fit the one you want to buy.

If you want help from the forum, post the pics here and tell us what the guitar is supposed to be, so we try to help if possible.

Hey people! ¿Can you help me spot if this is a fake mim telecaster? Serial number seems legit. Pickguard is obviously modified.

Pickguard aside I am not seeing anything obviously untoward in the pictures. Looks like a cool guitar to me.

Looks like a MIM Classic 50's Telecaster to me.
It should have a white guard. The US 52' RI should have the black guard.

I am new to the forum, and wish I had joined 3 years ago. I paid $740 for a counterfeit American Strat that was right off the boat from China. ADK, Adirondak Guitar, Hudson Falls, New York sold it to me off Reverb, and they are blowing me off.
The Fender Corporation rep. That looked at my photos mentioned a dead giveaway for my fake fender maple neck that might not have been mentioned in previous posts. American Strat maple necks are one piece. Mine had a maple fingerboard.
My fake Fender had Chinese pots, the skunk stripe was painted on, chrome bridge, crude body cut out for electronics. I was really unprepared to buy a used American Strat.

Hey, I just want to ask you guys if this fender stratocaster is legit/real based on its truss rod and serial number. The seller said that the parts were from the usa but made in china.

Total fake of the worst kind.

If someone wants to see the pics, the Philippines version of AliBaba page is here: https://www.lazada.com.ph/products/fend ... 02354.html
(But you can use your time better than clicking...)

I agree entirely. It should be burnt.

Wow.
They didn't even try to make that look real.
Backplate, tuners, truss rod bushing, pickguard, inlays... and the "Z" series serial numbers were not used in 2016.
That's not even good enough to be called a Squier.
