This probably sounds crazy, but like the sound of an SCN better in the neck position than the vintage 57s in my 50th aniv strat.

I have the SCN pickup, but since the guitar has three Vint 57s and appropriate pots, is it even possible to just change out the neck pup? Will there be some issues with the current pots and the fact that the middle and bridge pups will still be the 57s?

Yes you can do it. The white wire goes to the 5way switch. The other 2 wires (forgot their colour) go to the base of the volume pot.

If you get a horrible sound on the neck/mid combination, swap the black and white wires from the middle pickup round. So that white goes to the base of the pot and black goes to the switch (or visaversa, whatever they are reverse em). Its because your middle pickup is then out of phase with the SCN. You may also need to swap the bridge pickup wires round too if your middle pickup was reverse wound reverse polarity and you wanted to keep it humbucking in the bridge/mid position.
