Hey guys

Does anyone know a solution for this kind of problem:

One year ago, i bought an "American Vintage Player Deluxe" - Limited Edition. Unfortunately the e (1st) string is so low, it's almost off the fretboard. really annoying when trying to bend that string and playing faster...

can i change that somehow?

thanks for the answers

Excuse me if my questions sound a bit silly.
1. Are you bending the string up or down?
2. Was the string positioned like that when you bought the guitar, or after the strings were replaced?
3. Are you serious? Sorry, had to ask.

I would think you would need to shim the side of the neck pocket to kick the angle of the neck up a bit (a little will do a lot)

The other option would be replacing the american trem/bridge with a mexican strat one. It has a slightly narrower string spacing which would solve the problem.

@all: thanks for your replies;

@nikki: 1. I bend the string up, for sure... everything else would be silly...
2. i ordered the guitar @m******nsfriend. since i don't live in america i had to take the first guitar with me, they sent (i only stayed 2 weeks) - i could not send it back (in germany it would have cost 50% more than in the usa); i noticed the problem when i first played it. it's still pretty playable, but not as well as it COULD be...
3. I am really serious. :)

the solution with the mexican tremolo sounds plausible, maybe i'll refer to that. the shimming might be too dangerous ;)

thanks a lot

greetings from germany

I played a 56 fender Strat Relic at the music store and it had the same problem!

Look at the opposite side E string. Is it a tad too far from the edge?

What I've done before in this situation it so loosen the neck screws a bit and nudge the neck the appropriate direction, evening the E strings out.

Of course, you loosen the strings a bit, making sure there is no tension on the neck BEFORE you loosen the neck screws...

Also, depending on your bridge saddles, you may be able to string it up putting the string a bit closer to the B string.

hey...

sorry for digging out that thread...

i just wanted to let you (and fender guitars :x) know that it cost me 300$ to fix that issue. i had to take that strat to the luthier who was occupied a few days bending the neck - the truss rod was totally wrecked.

so... if you ever buy a guitar whose strings are not quite where they should be... give it back. immediately.

bye

Tobi
