Nah thats a rubbish amp, not a patch on a plexi, a evo top or a supergroup100. Their rockin amps, the super reverb is a decent country amp at best.

No corn cob up my arse, just a desire for negative people to not compare a home amp that covers many bases to a stage amp, based on their questionable judgment.

You have shown your ignorance by calling one of the greatest tube amps of all time rubbish.

When did I compare the Vibro "Home Amp" Champ to a stage amp?

You and BigTufGuy asked me what I considered a real tube amp and I said Super Reverb. I made no comparisons to the Vibro "Home Amp" Champ.

The original poster asked for opinions about the Vibro Champ and I gave mine. I don't recall the original poster asking for only positive opinions regarding the Vibro "Home Amp" Champ.
As far as a good tube home amp try the 57 Champ reissue...tone for days, unlike that digital processed Vibro "Home Amp" Champ garbage.

You better check your bottom again because it seems you have more than one corn cobb up there.

OZZY RULES!!!
Nah, the 57 champ reissue is just a overpriced little practice amp.I mean come on 1800 bucks for a 5 watt amp with one knob? You can get a real champ on ebay for less than that. You cant really gig with it either.

Where do you live that the 57 champ reissue is 1800 bucks? They retail for $999.00 in the U.S. I think you have confused it with the 57 deluxe.

I only mentioned it because nikininja brought up "Home Amps"

OZZY RULES!!!
Yep, sorry .It is still overpriced at 999.I paid 800 for my 65 deluxe reverb and its a much better amp, just not made in the custom shop. And you can gig with it or record with it or whatever.

The Vibro champ XD is a tube amp for sure. I myself am not a fan of it because of the modeling side of it. Now I don't know how Knitgirl brought the Super Reverb into this is, well who knows. The Super Reverb is a good amp the greatest I don't know about that. I also wonder which Super Reverb Knitgirl is talking about, Blackface, Silverface or Reissue? I say that because out of the three there is one I prefer over the others. I have played and worked on all three. And for practice at home the neighbors better like you because to get the Super reverb sounding right you know where you have to go for its true potential.

Not to bring out to many Peavey haters I recently spent hours playing on a Peavey Windsor Studio and was impressed by the sound quality. And it has a power sponge on board. My be something you would like to try.

Knitgirl you bought the superreverb into this. When asked, what amp you think is great, it's what you responded with. One of the greatest amps of all time? I think it's pretty mediocre, unless you want that clean sound. The drive on it is deplorable and hard to attain.

Unless of course you are privy to secret information about the OP's circumstance that isn't available to us all.

If you want a fender amp in 4x10 configuration with great od tones ,its hard to beat a 59 bassman. One of the nicest sounding amps fender makes .You get great overdrive tones and ok cleans, but you have to be able to crank it.

Sadly no Ozzy cant play guitar, or sing in time. Thats why NIB and Sabbath bloody sabbath are so hard for a vocalists to cover.

Ozzy's current guitarist uses Marshall JCM800's, the same as me which incidently uses a sort of tone modelling in the form of diode clipping. Arguably the best guitarist he employed used 1959 Plexi heads, which I also have a bit of experience with. Non of them to my knowledge ( even Brad Gillis also a giant guitarist that should have done better with Ozzy) used the Fender Super Reverb or a 57 champ reissue. Iommi used the Laney Supergroup 100 head. He still favours Laney.

I recently had a 75 super reverb and while I like the cleans and the reverb,I found when pushed it wasnt anything to write home about. Also having 59 bassman , I decided to keep the bassman and sell the sr.The overdrive on the bassman is tough to beat.Ended up getting a deluxe reverb and now use that .Its a nice versitile amp and I like both the clean and the breakup tones.Great for blues and classic rock.If you want heavier music , the marshall line is tough to beat.I played the 57 champ ri when it first came out and decided for the money it wasnt worth it.JMO.

Keep in mind I'm newbish, but I own a Vibro Champ XD and a Super Champ XD.

IMO For the money, they can't be beat, as far as home practice.
The Vibro Champ is 5 watt, which is plenty for home and with the effects, I don't even feel a need to go buy a bunch of pedals to clutter up my floor. Plus you can really drive the tube and get easy harmonics since its not super loud.

Test one out at Best Buy if you have one nearby, and they carry a comparable priced Vox, which sounds like a toy compared to the Fender.

Everyone can come up with a better sounding amp of course, but don't get caught up in that hubub. They will be more money and less suited to your needs if you are just practicing at home.

I sold my Hot Rod Deluxe because it was 40 watts, over 40 lbs, and I could not put it past 1 even with a lower powered tube - which cost me more money on top of the amp cost !

I am sorry for my rude response. Yesterday I started my period and it's a really heavy flow this month. I guess I am a little sensitive.

Decent little amp.... Not the best for playing in a band...it will need to be mic'd to be heard. I have the Superchamp XD, another good amp. If you're going from solid to tube, its a good start. Effects and amp models are decent and the clean/tube channel is really good.

This has been an entertaining thread! Tube amps on the Strat forum..ummmmm.

Anyhow I use to have a Line 6 Spider Head and thought it was nice as it was a digital modelling amp. Then I bought a Peavey Vintage Tweed and a Crate Vintage Club. Both are vintage type tube amps. Wow, the tubes were alive. Then I picked up a 1970 Fender Bassman 10 and I started to see why so many guitarist through the ages used Bassman amps as a guitar amp. Next I picked up a 1970s AB165 Bassman Head and used a 2 x 12 cab....now my absolute favorite for a home amp (Hard to keep the volume down but hey, I live way out in a forest!) and my playing amp as well. I sold my Line 6 head very quickly afterwards....as it was good for heavy metal and that was about it....

I think the modelling amps are really nice for lower volumes or in a studio setting.
