If these are, in fact, due to be released on April 1st, wouldn't you think there would be some marketing going on now?

It's strange Mike because you can find them advertised on several sites. :?

I believe we are doing exactly what the Fender Marketing people want us to do.... Ask lots of questions and build up a sense of anticipation around a newly redesigned product...
I plugged the new American Deluxe Tele into a little Marshall 5 watt tube amp today and played it for about 15 minutes. the new pups are still a mystery but they do sound much more traditional than the SCN pups I've played before. Don't have the overwound humbucker tone. Very quiet but still have the pop and twang you expect from a Tele. I still haven't gotten my hands on the Strat yet but if its like the Tele I think I will find them much more traditional sounding than the SCNs. I really like the neck the more I play it. The compound radius really lends itself to bends without choking out. The satin finish on the maple neck was a nice touch. Very smooth even without my favorite "Finger Ease" treatment on the strings and neck.

I ordered the new 2010 american deluxe from sam ash the other day and just received it today. I love this guitar. The new N3 pickups sound so much better. They use alnico 5 magnets and sound much more like a strat than the scn's. They took this guitar off of their website but if you call them you can order it. The new s-1 switching is much better also. Here is how it works with the s/s/s model.

button pushed down

position1 middle and bridge in series and then in parallel with neck

position2 neck and bridge out of phase like a tele middle

position3 neck and middle in series like a humbucker

position4 middle and bridge in a series like a humbucker

position 5 all three pickups

Hello jude924!

Thanks for the above post! I'm a big S-1 switch fan and was wondering what the new S-1 config was going to be. Just need a wiring diagram now so I can give it a go!

Thanks again

Andy

Hi jude924, how do you like the compound radius?

Honestly I can't really tell what's going on with the compound radius fretboard. I can't feel a difference but I think the fretboard gets flatter the more you go down the neck towards the body. The only paperwork I got was the new s-1 diagram.

I can tell you the new s-1 switching is much much more useable than before. I'm liking it more and more each day.

Also the pickups in my opinion are much better than the scn's. It just sounds more like a strat and has lots of quack in the 2 and 4 position.

Also if anyone can tell me how to post a picture on here I'll post some pics of it.

If it would have come with a wiring diagram I would have emailed it to you.

I also really enjoy the S-1 switch. Especially the new configuration.

Just thought that I would post one of the new color.
Sadly the photos just don't do justice to it.
