@ sftratplexi
That's good news sftratplexi. I feel better for you now! We'll need a complete report from you! Comments, sound clips, youtube video, all the kit!

Enjoy the waiting! In the end that's what is the most exiciting!

@Matt

Thanks for the investigation. Now we're fixed about that new AmDlx. Can't wait to try it but as you know, the LP won the battle! Fender should have done it's marketing around that strat. He didn't. To bad for Fender, for now at least! You always need another strat in the end!

I can't wait. Since I made the decision to start playing again, I haven't had a goods night sleep. It's been 6-7 years since I have played. I am sure my chops are long dead. I don't even own an amp.

Welcome to The Forums, congrats, and best of luck. While you are waiting, go out and get yourself immunized against GAS(Gear Acquisition Syndrome) if you intend to hang out here. :idea: You will need it's all powerful protection. 8)

Docf :wink:

Docf is right but no real protection exits. Once you got it, it's there 'till the end!

And now, in my book at least, here's the amp you need:

http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=8150500000

So sell those useless things as refrigirator, washer and dryier, tv set etc and get that '57 Deluxe!

Thanks guys for the warning....I have had GAS before and while its fun, the wallet takes a lot of abuse. These forums definately don't help!

That 57 Deluxe amp is sweet but a little to 'high end' for me right now. I will probably just go with a tweed Blues Jr. with a Fulltone FD2 for now. And when the new G-DEC comes out, I'll pick one of those up for helping with the practice.

Before my 6-7 year hiatis, I played about 15 years and I have had more gear than I want to admit. My last amp was a Rivera R-30 with a Celestion Greenback and was the perfect gig size (with a Sur 57 mic). A clean and dirty channel and I had 6 or so pedals on my pedal board at any one time...a Clyde wah, Deja-Vibe 2, Fulldrive 2, MXR Phase 90, Ibanex analog delay, Boss Tuner and a Fat Boost.

I just wonder what my playing will be like. I am sure it will be ugly... :x

With that much mileage behind you.....just play. Be like riding a bike again. :wink:

well, stratquebec, I picked up a cherry LP faded today (with case) and expect to not need food or sleep for the next few days. 30 days to play with as the new Fenders arrive. I'm in love with it already.

@ sftratplexi:
Ok. You relapse. Don't panic but you probably already know that, usually, a GAS relapse lasts about 10 to 15 years so, be vigilant. This is really not the time to change your car or to buy a new house. You'll need a lot of cash soon! GAS is so adictive! New Tweed blues JR, new Fulltone, new G-Dec, new Strat... See. You're in! Very very deep. :wink:

@Matt_Kelemen:
Matt, congradulations. In the end, you saved 800 bucks by choosing that sweet and lovely Cherry LP. Now, you could even buy an American Special strat thanks to the savings you did! :wink: But please don't! Keep your money for superficial things like food, car, house, home theater etc.!

Crazy! Unbelievable! An LP + a Strat for the price of a the new American Deluxe. Um... Very very tempting...

GAS is mercilessly :lol:

Maybe its just me, but I love my SCN pickups and abalone dot inlays...Why did they do away with those?

I agree completely. Perhaps there will be a few on the used market to fill out the color palette!

Fear not!! When the grand yadyadya 'best thing since sliced bread' begins, they'll tell you why. As they did when the SCN's were first introduced. :wink: Patience!! How else do you think they sell guitars to the GAS afflicted among us. :shock:

It's certainly not because of a brilliant marketing strategy! :lol:

They quietly (silently), discontinue a very popular series. And then just as quietly (silently), "introduce" the replacement by way of a select few small resellers!

I'm really thinking this new version is a recent idea - an afterthought. The OLD versions are listed in the 2010 catalog! Given the time required to produce and print a catalog of that size, somewhere during the last 2-4 months, they decided the Am Deluxe series needed updating. (or they didn't have all the details ironed out)

What does it matter?

Well, it doesn't. It's just that when I become enamored with a product, I like to know how the manufacturer operates - it's interesting to me. And at this point, Fender marketing leaves me scratching my head. :?

Well, just unlax. Before long they'll be telling us about how far superior these new pickups are to the SCN's, how they came to develop them and why, and all about the awesome tones you can wring out of the new circuitry. 8) Meanwhile, take care about the splinters. :wink:

Doc :wink:
