I love the pickups in my 2000 MIM Strat so I want to put these same ones in another project guitar. I need to know what years these exact same pups were used in other MIM Strats so I can locate some used on the net. Anybody got that data?
thanks

Their generic stock pickups. They didnt change from year to year.

Makes em a very easy find.

I heard that the 90's MIM pickups were not that great, if i were you I'd just look for standard mexican pickups from around 00' just in case. maybe even some newer ones. but from what i've heard stay away from the 90's

Someone please correct me if i am wrong,

But i hope this helps.

I think I have tried every pickup ever made and especially tried different single coil sized humbuckers to quiet the noise down, but always come back to the stock pickups for the tone. The only exception is the Duncan Lil 59's in the neck and middle which give you a good Gibby sound. I have yet to find a bridge pup that beats the stock pup for my needs. I have heard other people using Alnico pups that sounded great, but never could get them to work for me. I like the higher output and fatness of the ceramics to push the amp a little, but you still get enough highs to retain the Fender sound. Sometimes I add a bit of wire to the bridge pups to boost the mids a bit more but I leave the others stock. Best of all, the pups are cheap to buy used and with the money you save on boutique pups you can almost buy an entire MIM Strat.

Is this yet, more "infallible web dogma"?

I suspect so. I gave mine (from a 95) away then put some vintage noiseless in. I felt like the sky had just collapsed when I heard the replacements. One of the worst/best things I've ever done.

You dont know what you've got till it's gone.

There is so much hype about pickups it is just over the edge. Buy this. buy that.

The problem is you don't know what your missing until you try the rest. Never sell a great sounding set of pickups that work for you whatever they are and it really varies from person to person.

Don't be afraid to try other for the experiance but always buy right so you can bail out. One mans garbage is anothers treasure.

My favorite all time pickup is the late 90s early 2000 large head Peavey Raptor pickups. Very even from string to string. None of that toooo loud G string thing on all those staggered vintage pickups. Very hot ceramic pickup. Much like the Mexican but not as thick and dark.

Lot to be said for ceramic pickups. They get trashed talked as junk as a norn. You can get them closer to the strings as well before the magnets distort the tuning on the low E beyound the 12th fret also thus a hotter sound.

The Fender vintage staggered has it's advantages as well. They respond to touch and striking of the string in a very exspressive way to give the sound a life of its own.

I still end up with the flat poled ceramics every time.
