I have only one problem with my 06 American Standard strat, and that is the fact that the volume knob cuts the volume almost completely if I turn it lower than 6 or 7. Is it just the pot? Is there maybe a brand of pot that I should look for that has a smoother transition?
Thanks in advance,
-John

Oh I could have so much fun with some of these pot questions.

But seriously, I think that Fender pots are great. And really everything is made somewhere in Asia then branded differently. I would suggest that if you are going to replace it, that you step it up to S1 volume pot or other push/pull switch to give you some extra settings.

Also, what volume do you have your amp at? Try turning the amp up and the volume down on the guitar.

Look into these:

Roy and the people at RS are great people to deal with.

On an AS Strat I have,I put a resistor and capacitor in series on two of the connections on the volume pot to correct that problem.
That was about 8 or 9 years ago,so I don't remember the values. If you search for volume pot mods for Strats, you will likely find that description.
If you can't find it I will look in my notes for the mod.

Yeah, I know. I totally set myself up
But I use the volume knob more for how hard i want to push the amp. I have an ernie ball volume pedal for swells and such. So I guess step one is gonna be ordering some of those RS pots.
Thanks!
