Impulse

I'm not getting the Red burn'o'caster back. All the work Ceri has put into it, he deserves to enjoy it.

On that black strat I simply flattened the treble side of the rear of the neck. The neck had a D shape to it, like a American Deluxes C shape but a fair bit deeper. Its always been my favourite neck, its had 15 years hard wear and I dont think it will last another 15 years. So I deliberated a lot over the decision and finaly decided I love the way the neck rear sits on my thumb. I could do with angling it to suit my little fingers and the sloppy way I grip a guitar. So I was playing my V necked strat and decided that neck was the other way. It sits on my thumb poorly but feels great around the finger end of my palm. So I took a block of wood, wrapped some sandpaper around it and flattened out the treble side of that neck rear. I then did a lot of rounding by hand. When I finaly had the shape I wanted I smoothed it out with 120grit paper. Played it for a few weeks so my hands really wore any roughness away. Then oiled it. It was a risk but it paid off. I'll be refretting it soon, when I do I'll strip the old lacquer off and ask someone I know to respray it.

It never ends.

Sweet mate. I'll have to post some pics of my Strat copy I built 14 years ago. It's my #2 on stage, but still a great sounding axe. Pickups died 2 years ago (too much abuse) so I replaced em with Stew mac Golden age set. Not a bad set of pickups for such a cheap price.

I also have another project on the go that my mates building for me... thats something special you'll get to see when it's done. We have full pictures of the build for that one.

N e way, nuff talking about it. Will post pics when I get home of #2.

I'm thinking of pleading with Ceri and then sending him a bare body (not mine, thats just wrong on too many levels), wedge of cash and promises of my undying servitude to get a Crash.

It does look great.

Strat204 thanks for the compliment mate.

Here is a modded 60 Reissue Custom Shop QMT that I purchased with a lot of funky and questionable changes before I got to it. The previous owner routed out the body to make a complete swimming pool route in order to add in two Bertolini Humbuckers and a single coil that was not connected. We took advantage of all that space under the hood and put together the 5 pup (in appearance) Lace Chrome Domes. It's actually two Lace Arena Humbuckers (19.8k HOT) and a single Chrome Dome. It's wired with separate toggles for the humbuckers to split (coil tap) them. They are three position toggles so you can split the forward pup, both, or the back pup on the humbucker. 5 Way Super Switch, Lower Tone control is No-Load, Middle Tone control is for the neck pickup. Crazy amount of tonal options.

I wish I still had her! :(
