It is interesting that a lot of Beatles guitar solos were actually Paul or John. Both of them are/were very good lead players.

I though they called in Clapton to do all the good ones... 8)

Thanks for the vid that was enjoyable. Harrisons voice reminds me of Petty..which why he was a good fit in the Willburys. Now McCartney is a great bass player in his own right but the one here is tight as a clams butt. I think that is Claptons usual bass player? The guy seems like I have seen him before and maybe playing with other top artists as well.

FWIW, the book "All The Songs" says the track list shows John on a Fender, George on a Rickenbacker, and then a Fender on overdubs, and lead solo by Paul on an Epiphone Casino.

Nathan East was Clapton's bassist for many years, he left the band lineup shortly after the 2004 world tour.

Image

In late 2005 EC hired Willie Weeks to replace Nathan after his departure from the band.
Willie remained in the lineup until 2013.

Nate accompanied Eric during his final trip in Asia.

Currently Clapton is on the road with Dave Bronze on bass and Andy Fairweather-Low on guitar.

Yesterday the band did the first of their 2 final UK performances in Scotland.

Dave Bronze is a phenomenal player.
I had the pleasure of seeing him with The Hamsters many years ago (the band's long time bassist was having major problems playing due to carpal tunnel syndrome, and Dave Bronze stepped into the breech).
He left The Hamsters to record and tour with Eric Clapton IIRC.

Dave is also a member of Procol Harum.

There's no doubt Eric did countless appearances with the band at Winter's Hall Estate (Bramley/Surrey) over the years; their last gig dates from June 4th, 2011.

I remember George saying in a documentary that him and John sent their roadie out to buy 2 strats and Brian Epstein stipulated they should both be the same colour (why I don't know) he stayed up late one night and painted Rocky in day-glo paint which he says (to quote him) was, "Quite a new invention in them days"
He painted the wording on the headstock with Patti Boyd's nail varnish and he said from a conversation he had with Ry Cooder, he jacked up the bridge and used heavier strings to get a better tone on slide

The candy apple red "Strat" would be John's last guitar before his tragic death in 1981. :(

Image

During the Bangladesh concert in 1971 George used an antigua Strat fitted with a 50's-era maple neck.

Image

His Strat arsenal included a sunburst Squier JV - one of the very first Japanese Squiers to be produced at the Fujigen factory. This guitar was first seen during the Prince's Trust charity concert held at Wembley Stadium in 1987.
