Picked one up yesterday in the three-tone sunburst. I'm still a bit bummed about paying as much for a MIM, but it sounds so sweet, even when I play it  As crazy as it sounds, it actually sounds beter than my American Deluxe (which I sold) The 12" radius will take some getting used to, but I figure I'll just practice & get better. Anybody else have one of these? If so, what do you think about them? I know, I know - "pics or it didn't happen." I took some, but can't figure out how to load them up. If it involves a flikr/photobucket account, forget about it.

Congrats on the new guitar. I cannot believe you sold the American Deluxe. I am now in a not selling guitars mode myself. Unfortunately Photobucket or sites like it are the only way to post actual pics. You could post to your facebook account (if you have one) and have it on your wall I guess.

I have one in daphne blue and it's sure a beautiful playing and sounding guitar. I picked mine up from a local pawnshop so I don't feel too bad about the price that I paid for it ;) it is definitely unique from my 91 American Standard and my 97 Plus strats. Enjoy, it's a very well put together guitar and shouldn't disappoint.

The classic player 60s in my opinion is the best of the mim guitars. The price isnt bad for what you get.

There's no doubt it's a nice guitar! I was just wondering why he sold his MIA Deluxe, but it's none of my business!!

The world may never know. I sold a AM Delux but I bought a CS to replace it.

Thanks for the replies thus far. I know I'm crazy for letting my Am Dlx go. I thought I'd have it forever, but I just haven't been "feeling" it for a while now. It was an impulse buy 5 yrs ago. Though the fretwork was unmatched, the pickups were sterile to me (vintage noiseles) - I could have replaced them, but I figured why spend even more money on Fender's top-of-the-line standard production strat. A few years older & wiser, and I'm starting to "find" my tone - the Am Dlx wasn't it. This CS 60s sounds great, but the fretwork is no match for the Am Dlx. Oh well. I know Fender seems to be discontinuing the Am Dlx series, but they'll just come up with something else. The great thing about guitars is you can always buy more of them (if you can afford it).

I have a Sonic Blue Classic Player 60s. It's definitely at the top of the line for MIM Strats. I'm a fan of the '69 pickups and the beefy neck. I grab mine when I'm in the mood for vintage Strat tones, hum and all.

I also have an American Deluxe Ash Strat and it's not going anywhere. I grab it when I want to play a modern Strat with noiseless pickups and S-1 switching.

Diversity is the key for me. Is it possible to own too many Stratocasters? Nah.
