Hey everone , new guy here.

I am ready to purchase my first Fender Strat.

My question is in regards to the Fender American Standard HSS Stratocaster .

I love this guitar, but i hate the white pick guard.

Can i order this guitar with a black pick guard and pick up covers as opposed to the white ones ?

If so, how long would it take to get it, and what would it cost me ?

Basically what i am after , is the look of the American Special with the black pick up covers and the black pick guard.

For the life of me , i don,t understand why they don't offer the same color combos for both the American Special, and the American Standard.

Thanks for your help.

As far as I know you can't, at least without paying through the nose, and I don't know if you can even then. What you CAN do is order a replacement pickguard and pup covers. Pickguards are usually 40ish, and the cover / knob set should be less than 20.

Welcome to the forum. You can always change the guard once you get it. Look on pickguards.com, the have a variety to choose from.

Thanks so much for the replies. Looks like i can do it myself on the cheap :D

I really like the black on black or the burst on black. Black on white just does'nt get it for me.

Great forum.

As has been said, about the only way to get that without paying an arm and a leg (maybe thru Fender's Custom Shop?) is to do it yourself. It's not that hard, I did it with my Jazz bass as soon as I got it, like you, I hated the white PG it came with. Granted it was easier on my Jazz (didn't even have to remove the strings) than it would be on a Strat, but it's still not that hard. I believe Youtube might have a video or two that shows how. Oh, and you will need to get a matching switchtip and knobs, too, but you can get accessory kits that have all that as well as the pup covers.
