I'm firmly on the fence with this one, they both have their merits, the rosewood gives you better feel but then again the maple offers less resistance when bending notes.

I just bought my first Strat and I went with maple. I like the brightness of it (sound and appearance). But once again... you have to be the one that's happy with it.

Maple - for aesthetic reasons only. I personally can't hear or feel any difference between the two. I just like the way it looks.

The very first guitar I ever bought had maple, but everything since then has been rosewood. None of them were a conscious decision - they just felt right at the time. For all I know it was because most of my furniture is dark timber

I like both, but prefer maple on Strats.

I have always preferred Rosewood but unfinished maple might even be better. The only problem there is keeping it clean.

Maple. I find it has a smoother feel which carries into the sound, especially on those lovely slides. :)

For me, it depends on the intended look. 50's = maple. 60's = Rosewood.

But overall, I'm a Rosewood guy.

This is only my opinion. Maple for Strats and Teles. Rosewood for Gibsons. Rosewood for acoustics. :)

I'm fully aware that a whole lot of people disagree with me and that's fine!! :)
