I prefer rosewood. I have always found it easier to maintain and looking new longer. However, my next guitar purchace will be a guitar with a maple neck. I am going for a more "traditional" look. Not to mention it is a tone monster just as it is.

my first strat (1963) had a maple neck. 45 years later i went back to a maple neck. just seems like a brighter, cleaner sound that is more suitable for what i play

If I could have only one option for the rest of my life.. maple. But I like the look of both on certain guitars.

But, pick the one that YOU want. In the end, the only one who has to be truely happy is you.

I prefer the look of rosewood, but I've always been partial to dark wood (that goes for more than just guitars). For what it's worth that was my two cents.

Rosewood for me. The wood lends itself to a full bodied warm tone that I find is difficult to get with a maple. I find maple necks easier to play though for some reason.

Hello!

I would have to go with rosewood though i have guitars with both. My maple necks have a finish on the fretboard where as all my rosewood necks are bare wood which i prefer the feel of. Also acousticaly the maple necks give a slightly brighter tone than the rosewood (IMO)

Enjoy!

And there you have it! A definitive... whatever you like. It "really" doesn't matter! 8)

Personnally I preffer Rosewood I like the feel a little beeter than a finished maple. The tone seems to be a little mellower and more to my taste.

But to be honest the best neck is the one that feels right and plays the way you want it to.
