I've just picked up a 2006 american 62 reissue vintage strat with a flamed maple top in two tone sunburst with rosewood neck and texas special pups. I think it may be a FSR. Anyone got any info on these?

They were a guitar center exclusive. Another owner said there were 500 made (that I don't know for sure). I have one I bought in '05.

They have a gorgeous body and the 9.5" radius neck is comfy. I don't know why they call it a '62 RI when 2-tone sunburst, 9.5" radius and texas specials aren't even close to what a '62 originally had.

All of the tags and case candy I got with it were the same as any American Vintage series.

Call Fender for the complete specs.

Thanks Jes2112, I love the colour with the rosewood board, and the flame top finishes it off. Its a great guitar, although I have taken out the texas pup at the bridge and replaced it with a bareknuckle slowhand, and connected it to the middle tone control.

Very cool! I, sadly, swapped the neck for a Warmoth flame maple/maple. I regret it. Looks beautiful, but killed the tone. My tech made the pocket joint perfect with this new neck and it had no sustain and sounded sterile as ever - Weird.

So I put in EMG David Gilmour active pickups and problem solved! But acoustically, it's still not the same. But it's a keeper. There's a lot of finish on this guitar not to my liking but when it gets broken in, it will be much sweeter to me.

Love the neck, I'm sure these have a thin skin nitro finish, this one's a keeper too.
