Just wondering but all you bridge users out there, when you use it do ya'll have a mod to change the tone with the tone knob. Also do ya'll use a clean setting on your amp and no pedals?

Middle, which is personally annoying, the concept of using a 3-pup 5-position instrument in primarily one.

'Am actually thinking of assembling a Frankenstrat with only a middle pup, probably a top-end black P-90-oid.

I have an American Standard so no mod needed to use the tone control, but yes I do turn the tone down just enough to take the edge off. These days I don't use any pedals but I change amp settings depending on what I'm playing.

I split between the neck and bridge and am forever slapping them back and forth when soloing.

I have been a neck/middle fan ever since I discovered the in between spot on my '65 Strat's 3 way selector switch. I still love it as position 4 on a 5 way.

Second favorite would be neck, then middle, bridge/middle and bridge. Bridge moves up if there is tone control for it. 8)

position 2 and 4. mainly for noise canceling, but i do like the thicker, almost fuller sound.

If that works for you.

Stevie Ray Vaughan had a Strat ("Yellow") that only had a single pickup in the neck position.

I have to have a tone on the bridge because I can't stand that ice pick between the eyes treble it puts out,and usually I have a clean tube amp tone that gets natural tube distortion like a Deluxe Reverb.
If I use a pedal it's an Ibanez tube screamer.

All of 'em--including the ones that open up due to the push/pull potentiometer that adds my bridge pickup to where ever the selector switch is set.

I use everything except the bridge on my strats ( which is odd cause the Fat 50s in my '64 are super hot and fat)

for my teles I use all of them, and on my '58 I love the humbucker for rhythm, and bridge for soloing. Not big on middle for that one.

Glad I found this thread. I recently bought an American Std after playing another brand for a while and love the neck and mid+neck positions. I was afraid that I was missing something but it appears that I am not alone in my favorites. Play mostly blues. Thanks - I feel much better now.
