http://cgi.ebay.com/FENDER-STRATOCASTER ... 230584eb99

this is probably just about the most unbelievable thing i have ever seen. its like a cross between george harrisons let it be telecaster and a 69 strat. what is the back story on this guitar and why has the decal been placed over the finish in such a bonehead position and two string trees installed? has it been modded?

Not sure of its background. But I believe the builder, Jason Smith is a regular on this forum. Really nice guy who knows his stuff.

On second thought, you should put this up in the Custom Shop section. Lots of insight over there.

Hi,

we have a Dutch kind of e-bay/selling market on which this type of guitar is offered too.
I don't know if and how long this link will work but if it works you can see several more pictures.

Translated it says that only one was build in 2008 and one was build in 2009 by Jason Smith, Fender builder. Everything is still with it and original wrapped and it goes with a luxurius Fender case.

We need to flag AlainlaFrance in here. He might actually be interested in buying this thing. He has a Tele just like it.

Rosewood Strats and Teles are beautiful...has anyone seen one with a maple neck ? I wonder how they look instead of being made out of all rosewood.

That's a magnificent guitar I'd snatch it up pretty quick if I had the money. I recall reading somewhere that back in the 69-72 era when they were making the Rosewood Teles two Rosewood Strats were made and only one has ever been accounted for-so if that story is true there may be a Rosewood Strat prototype still out there as the other one went a Fender employee as far as I know.

Hi Willem,

At first sight I thought the one for sale in The Netherland was a similar one to the US one, ie a glossy finish one.
.
In fact after perusing the photos, I noticed it was a satin finish model ie a perfect match to my satin finish rosewood Tele. A big difference because I love the satin finish for rosewood.

So we had tough negotiation and I finally got it at a fair price.

Thanks for the link and also to thewood1987 who put me on this thread.

Hi AlainlaFrance,

I am glad to be of assistance. It always makes me glad to see such a fine specimen finds a good home and in your case it really did. I have seen the pictures of your collection and it blew me of my feet. My only dream is to see the collection in real. Perhaps whenever, if so, you will keep an exhibition, I will visit it.

All the best,

When one needs to sell and nobody's buying and the selling time is over,
you're just in a trap, so the margin for negotiation is epsylon
