So I wired my strat according to this diagram:

http://www.strat-talk.com/forum/pickup- ... -pull.html

And now, when I roll off my tone knob down below 2 or 3, it completely cuts the volume for that pickup (it does it with both the middle and the neck, respectively).

I don't believe thats how it supposed to work, but if someone could take a peak at the diagram and let me know what you think.

One problem I believe I may be having is parts of the pots and switch my be touching the aluminum shielding inside. When I press down over the pickguard in that area it kind of emits a scratchy sound. I wasn't thinking this could be the problem, but who knows.

If I'm being unclear I could make a video demonstrating whats going on.

Thanks,

Tom

Your diagnosis may very well be true. I'd also double check the capacitor's wiring and verify that the malfunctioning pot isn't burned out (in this order) also.

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully there is nothing wrong with the diagram itself (as in, its working as its supposed to). I don't really think it could be the pots themselves, as they are brand new CTS pots, and the fact that both of them are exhibiting the same behavior.

I'm pretty sure they are working as volume adjust only, as in 3-10 doesnt change the tone, only the volume. Then it just drops off. I will have to check the capacitor, I put a .1 microfarad cap in, if that would have any effect.

I'm going to check all of my solder points also, but if anyone knows which connections in particular I should check for this problem, speak up please.

Also, there is small amount of hum, from grounding going on. I'm pretty sure my grounds are good... I wonder if it is because how the grounding is designed. I was thinking of potentially grounding all of the wires to a particular spot in an attempt to remove the hum.

Overall I'm very pleased with the results though, even though it isn't perfect (yet), the 3 pickups in series and neck/bridge in series is really quite nice sounding. I would describe it as very warm and fat, much fatter than the 2 and 4 positions. All it takes is a push/pull tone pot and some wiring to do. For the tinkers like myself, I would recommend looking into this.
