If the guitar is in the condition described by the Seller, I think it's a fair price. Buyers tend to think it's overpriced, Sellers tend to think it's underpriced..It's part of the Fender history.
Plastic parts may remain white. Look at the 1955 mint Strat on page 30 of "The Stratocaster Chronicles" by Tom Wheeler you will see a great example.Rare in such condition.

Guitar deserves an authoritative appraisal which does not seem to be coming forth. It's really in the wrong marketplace IMHO.

Absolutely. This guitar should sell all day long every day, why is it hanging around on ebay? Why did it even get on ebay? My incredibly intellegent bassist who's no stranger to high finance reported that ZZTop make 24mil every year, combined clear profit just from touring. Never mind the Nascar intrests and other stuff. Why would Gibbons a avid guitar collector pass over this? The price is chump change to him, every guitar you want he's got two of, every guitar you dont want he's got two of. The guys guitar collection is like a museum of whats what, then theres amps and effects. Why wouldnt he have bought it? Theres people around who make his collection look small, why haven't they bought it. If it is what the advert says it is, the price is right.

Perhaps "those people" would never buy something through Ebay. They will only use dealers that they trust.

As is my point. The advert says that Gibbons looked over it and mentioned others too.

How did the thing ever get to ebay?

from the bottom of the add :

"Q: Hello, My name is Sarah, and I am intrested in the Strat, I saw that you are located in Harrison, AR and that is where I live, I was wondering if there was anyway I could see it in person. Thank You! Sarah

A: We could meet you at the conference room at Arvest Bank on Walnut, downtown Harrison location. Let me know when it is convenient and I will coordinate it with Shawna, who schedules the room's usage."

Bankers have all the dough.

A perfect '55 model, but '54 is THE year for the Graal Strats. You have one or you don't.
I don't
I'm not a vintage guitars collector as such, I just have several , but somewhat linked to my youth (purchased at that time) or related to that period of my life for one reason or another...

What's caught my eye, and puzzles me as well, is the grain. It's a beautiful piece of wood. Rare for that time??? Looks like ash, not alder. What was the prevalence of use of ash in that time frame as opposed to alder? They didn't have their protocols completely fleshed out then.

1954.1955.1956, ash bodies were typical of that period.
