Hey all , i've been pondering putting the ol' ashtray bridge cover on my 97- American standard strat. However, at one website where they are sold, it states in it's ad, that the cover only fits vintage strat bridges as opposed to modern ones. I'm guessing vintage means the six point, or six screw models. Can anyone confirm this, and let me know if it is indeed a fact that all covers available only fit the vintage bridge? I'm hoping that there may be some other company offers a model that fits a 97' bridge. I've also seen the same statement made regarding the tele bridge covers as well! Anyway, thanks for any input here!

I herewith confirm and verify that it is a fact where the only available covers fit the vintage style, American spaced bridges.

Wow, so both the strat and the tele bridge plates must be vintage eh? That hardly seems fair! Wait till everyone sees my new custom tinfoil bridge covers man, they will surely be the envy of the forum, what with all that duct tape and sharpie work in there, you betcha!

P.S. Thanks again Mr. martian, i'll be looking forward to your next offering of extremely humorous banter sir!

You can then put your parts into production, charge an excessive amount for them (like many aftermarket parts makers do) and make millions off of people who are eager and willing to heap the big bucks upon you. Don't worry, they'll keep coming under the premise that your stuff HAS to be the greatest thing since sliced bread due to the huge price tag!! It's a beautiful thing!!!

I was wondering the same thing as you and actually a friend gave me an original vintage one and it didn't even come close to fitting and wouldn't allow my tremolo bar to even screw in. Until I figured I had nothing to lose and had one in my hand so why not. So I grabbed a set of pliers and a sock to protect the metal and was surprised how easy it was to slightly bend the metal to a perfect fit. It took no more than about 5 to 10 min to get it exactly right and it looks great and now fits on snug and tight. Have a look.
